Robin Walker Marshall, of Robin Lori Photography, is more than just a photographer, she is the consummate professional in every way! If she sets a time for your photo shoot, she will be there, on time and ready to help you capture those images of yourself that you’ve only dreamed of!

A happy wife and exceptional mother, you might wonder how Robin would have the time to build a portfolio that can sometimes look like a “who’s who” book of Atlanta, but Robin is just getting started! Be sure to take a look at her great photographs at www.robinlori.smugmug.com, and reach out to her for an appointment when you’re ready for the ultimate in photography!

For Colored Gurls: Can you tell us a little more about you? Robin Marshall: [I] was born in Richmond, VA but raised in Raleigh, NC. [I] moved to Atlanta, GA in 1994. I’m married with two boys; a family bonus: I have an identical twin sister!

FCG: How did you become interested in photography? Robin: I’ve always loved capturing moments everywhere I went. Known as the family historian, I was always carrying either my video or pocket camera!

FCG: Why did you decide to pursue a career as a photographer? Robin: I was attending an Oprah convention that allowed attendees to bring cameras. I was extremely excited but didn’t know what to expect or what types of pics I would be able to capture. I’m aggressive by nature and not afraid to ask or shoot for what I want, so I placed myself with the media team while Oprah’s “All Star Team” was giving interviews. I became a part of the media and was even pulled in places behind the scenes and everything! The conference was about living your dreams, and boy was I doing just that! I got pics of everything I could and couldn’t imagine. I knew I could pursue anything at that moment.

FCG: What do you think makes your photography unique? Robin: I tell a story…I absorb my environments and retell it through my pictures.

FCG: What are your favorite types of photos to shoot? Robin: Events like red carpets and food! I love to eat so I paint beautiful pictures through my lens (lol).

FCG: Who and what inspires you? Robin: Derek Blanks has made a huge impact here in Atlanta with his photography. I love to see his work. I see everything in a frame. Oddly enough, light inspires me, whether it’s natural light or great lighting in a room.

FCG: What are some of your future goals and plans? Robin: I enjoy shooting celebrities and events, but I would also like to be a part of Atlanta’s history. I’m fortunate to work with the City of Atlanta, allowing me to tap into my goal of capturing historical moments. My recent projects include the unveiling of Margaret Mitchell Square and Woodruff Park Playground with Mayor Kasim Reed. My plan is to master the craft and to be ready at all times. Who knows…you may see my images in National Geographic one day. :-)

FCG: What advice do you have for women who are interested in getting into photography? Robin: Get out your camera, and keep it with you at all times. Capture those precious moments at the birthday parties and weddings, and present the pics in your special way. Friends and family will start asking you to shoot, and your business will grow.

FCG: How can people get in touch with you? Robin:www.robinlorismugmug.com; robeno15 (@) gmail (.) com; and [I’m] on Twitter and Facebook.

FCG: Is there anything else you want to add or say? Robin: Find your passion and live it. Thanks so much for the opportunity!
