Central Atlanta Progress 73rd Annual Meeting Focuses On Downtown’s BIG Year!
Downtown Achievements And Projects Highlighted At Annual Meeting On March 19
Central Atlanta Progress (CAP) and the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District (ADID) will host its 2014 Annual Meeting on Wednesday, March 19 at the Georgia World Congress Center’s Sidney Marcus Auditorium. Kicking off at 7:00 am, the breakfast event will bring together more than 1,100 of the city’s top executives, elected officials and community partners, and will mark CAP’s 73rd year of serving Downtown Atlanta.
With the theme “Downtown’s BIG Year” CAP’s Annual Meeting will showcase the myriad of exciting accomplishments that will come to fruition in 2014. From the openings of the Atlanta Streetcar, the National Center for Civil and Human Rights and the College Football Hall of Fame, to the impressive number of new construction, renovation, economic development and beautification projects, CAP/ADID is behind many of the initiatives that make Downtown Atlanta an attractive prospect for investors, residents and students alike.
“2014 will be the biggest year for Downtown Atlanta since the Olympics,” said CAP/ADID President A.J. Robinson. “The efforts that will be realized this year will change the face and dynamic of Downtown Atlanta for decades to come.”
Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed will provide remarks at the event, which will also honor the achievements of two exemplary citizens. Phil Kent, soon to be retired Chairman and CEO of Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. will receive the Dan Sweat Award, and Atlanta First United Methodist Church Senior Pastor Dr. Charles Gardner will be given the Turner Downtown Community Leadership Award. CAP will also formally install its 2014-15 leadership, including a new chairman – Dave Stockert, CEO and President of Post Properties.
