I just LOVE taking part in programs that allow students to participate in rich learning opportunities! Shooting for the City of Atlanta provides me with lots of excitement from seeing change, enrichment and growth.
It was a great kick-off event Monday for the first Cultural Experience Project trip of the school year at the Atlanta Botanical Garden. A highlight of the morning was when Turner Broadcasting System received the Phoenix Award in recognition of their Americans for the Arts honor as one of this year’s BCA 10: “Best Businesses Partnering With The Arts In America.” It was a beautiful day as nearly 1500 kindergartners enjoyed learning and exploring at the Atlanta Botanical Garden!
The Cultural Experience Project was launched during the 2005-2006 school year to afford every Atlanta Public Schools (APS) student from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade the opportunity each year to experience arts and culture in a learning experience that directly ties to Common Core Georgia Performance Standards and curriculum goals. The Cultural Experience Project provides a chance to experience the wealth of Atlanta’s cultural venues at no cost to the student. The idea is, “one grade, one venue, guaranteed.”
Enjoy the pics I snapped!
