Ok, so I’m late on this new phenomenon with Tyrese but ICYMI… I happened to catch up on some of my episodes of the daytime talk show The View and saw Tyrese perform his NEW song “Shame” (co-produced by Warryn Campbell) from the album “Black Rose”.
Y’all… I have NEVER seen a Tyrese performance like THIS. He was so committed and deep into that song… Whoopi was on the floor. LOL! The women in the audience were loosing it, and I don’t blame them! I said to myself, “Something is different… he is SANGIN, not singing”. There were ad-libs that had a certain magic and I was blown away! To my surprise… I just learned the one and only Warryn Campbell co-produced the song. Warryn is the amazing machine behind the gospel duo Mary Mary and I have always LOVED his style. My twin sister and I are singers and dreamed of working with him as well.
Man, what a wonderful sound he has created with Tyrese… and the lyrics have meaning. “I’m ashamed of me. I don’t want an enemy… I just want my friend back. Yes!! Part of the melody kind of reminds me of that song, “Send For Me” by Atlantic Starr. Tyrese is bringing true R&B love songs (with a little gospel flava) back into the picture and I’m loving it. 🙂
Black Rose, the last solo album for Tyrese was released July 10th and is available on iTunes!
Tyrese also completed a video for the song featuring Jennifer Hudson. The recording is JUST as compelling as the live performance… and that is rare. Watch the clip:
