Has the Minecraft game taken over your kids??
ICYMI: It’s a POPULAR video game operated by Mojang that looks like a “Matrix” dashboard to me. It allow the kiddies (and adults) to build things out of textured cubes in a 3D world. The game has an unlimited amount of resources to create ANYTHING and they can play adventure games with other players. Let’s face it… most of us are busy parents and fallen into the trap of letting our kids spend too much time on their iPad.
Here’s 3 tips on how to engage your kids in “MIND” crafts vs. Minecraft. 🙂
Parent Tip #1 – Find exciting online games that will challenge them & give rewards/points. My boys LOVE to earn points to create their own characters & worlds. It gives them a sense of accomplishment.
Parent Tip #2 – Get them involved (along with YOU) in a special project at home. Brandon likes to cook with his dad… so we think of fun recipes (like pizza) and give him specific tasks. Believe it or not… kids like to feel they are contributing something to help their parents. It all ties into feeling empowered and HEARD.
Parent Tip #3 – Joe and I purchased a BUNCH of arts & crafts items, threw them out on the floor and said, “MAKE SOMETHING”. LOL!
