Photo of the Day: Celebrating Black History with C.T. Vivian

Cordy Tindell Vivian (Rev C. T. Vivian) helped organize the first sit-ins in Nashville in 1960, the first civil rights march in 1961 and was a close friend of MLK during the American Civil Rights Movement.  He actually rode the first “Freedom Bus” into Jackson, Mississippi.  I was also excited to learn President Barack Obama presented him with the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2013 on August 8th (my birthday) 🙂

Last month, Rev. Vivian attended Kevin Costner’s movie premier in Atlanta.  What an honor to photograpgh a “legend who paved the way” for ALL of us!
