So happy for Atlanta’s own rapper Kap-G (George Ramirez), who attended the LA screening of Pharell’s film DOPE this week. Kap-G also stars in this “must see” film as the “crazed but loyal” Fidel X. Born in Mexico… his family immigrated to the Atlanta where he attended Tri-Cities High Schools. It’s a small world… I just visited Tri-Cities a couple of months ago for the Pitch Perfect 2 talent event.
Kap G has worked with other Atlanta talents T.I., Wiz Khalifa and Young Jeezy. His debut single featured Chief Keef, gained him more attention. Kap G began remixing other artists’ songs in which A&R Kawan Prather discovered him and landed him a deal with Atlantic Records. Most of his lyrics reflect his Mexican heritage and are in bilingual, containing references in the Spanish language. He released his critically acclaimed mixtape Like A Mexican on March 6, 2014 – Wikipedia 🙂
Also in attendance of the LA screening was super producer Pharrell Williams, Shameik Moore, Kiersey Clemons, Kimberly Elise, Quincy Brown, Sean Combs and co-producer Mimi Valdes. Additional attendees included Marlon Wayans, Michael B. Jordan, Keke Palmer, Gloria Govan, Dascha Polanco, Serayah McNeil, Damien Wayans, John Cho and many more.
‘DOPE’ premieres nationwide on June 19. Take a look at the red carpet pics and be sure to check out the Kap-G website at www.therealkapg.com
