Tommy Ford Joins Parents of Former Drum Major Robert Champion Jr. to Fight Against Violence and Bullying #BeAChampion

This week, I’ve been able to participate in so many worthy occasions… I can’t post fast enough because it’s SO much!  Wednesday 18th, I visited the N. Atlanta High School to cover a student assembly focusing on the fight against violence and bullying. Best known for his role as Tommy Strawn on the hit show Martin, Tommy Ford  joined forces with “Be A Champion Foundation” founders and parents of former FAMU drum major, Robert Champion Jr who was killed due to a useless act of violence during a hazing ritual.

Tommy Ford, Award Winning Actor/Writer/Humanitarian, Pamela and Robert Champion, Sr., Parents of Robert Champion Jr., Chad Franklin, Co-CEO of Be A Champion Foundation Fenorris Pearson, Sr. Co-CEO, Be A Champion Foundation, Robert Whitman, Asst. Principal, N. Atlanta High School

The team discussed proactive approaches to young people overcoming issues of violence and bullying, as the Be A Champion Foundation (created in Champions honor) launches the next phase of its national impactful programs and initiatives.  Tommy Ford gave the students such a heart felt story on some of his early life lessons and encouraged each student to make a choice to do the RIGHT thing… no matter the circumstance.

I wasn’t able to stay for the entire session but was so impressed with the efforts of Be A Champion organization, the beautiful high school and it’s own LIVE drumline !  Please visit  for more information on how you can get involved.  Sending  a very special thanks to Imara Canady for the opportunity!
