Please ask why I was SO excited to be at the Fox Theatre yesterday…?!!! Guardians of the Galaxy lead actor Chris Pratt attended the Captain America Civil War Atlanta screening along with GOTG cast members Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Dave Bautista, Sean Gunn and Terence Rosemore!! I recently photographed another Captain America premiere with Executive Director Nate Moore and Atlanta has been buzzing with pure excitement. As an added bonus… CACW Director Anthony Russo walked the red carpet to give press a few more details on this highly anticipated action packed film… in theaters THIS Friday. I wasn’t able to see Captain America for both premieres because I was working… but you can bet your bottom dollar my boys will have me in the theater this weekend!
Political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability when the actions of the Avengers lead to collateral damage. The new status quo deeply divides members of the team. Captain America (Chris Evans) believes superheroes should remain free to defend humanity without government interference. Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) sharply disagrees and supports oversight. As the debate escalates into an all-out feud, Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) must pick a side.

On a side note: This AMAZING opportunity was kind of personal for 2 reasons:
I was feeling kind of down because the day before… Olympic Gold Medalist Cullen Jones was in town teaching kids how to swim and I didn’t get a chance to attend. 🙁 We have dreamed for the opportunity to introduce my boys (who are also swimmers) to this accomplished athlete. I almost had an outter body experience because he was so close but yet… so far. My hubby told me things happen for a reason… and I believe it. I was NOT expecting to get this wonderful invite the next day. Special thanks to the awesome team at Allied THA!!
2nd… Guardians of the Galaxy 1 holds a special place in my heart. In the first scene you see young Peter (played by Chris Pratt) in a hospital as he listens to his treasured 80’s music. The mixed tape was created by his beloved mother who is terminally ill. Right before his mom passes… she gives him a wrapped present that he never opens. But you can see the love for his headset and how he protects it throughout his life as a boy and becoming a man. At the end of the movie he finally opens the gift and it’s PART 2 of her favorite 80’s songs… enough to last another lifetime!
So this storyline hit home for me because as you know… I LOVE music AND I create my own mixed CDs that include soft rock, gospel, pop, rock (totally addicted to N.E.R.D & Kurt Cobain) and the list goes on. Unfortunately, my boys (9 & 7) aren’t too fond of my music but they love GOTG and I cry every time those scenes come up.
Now back to the fabulous Captain America Civil War screening… i’m hearing some amazing reviews so get ready!
NOTE!! These pictures are NOT my best as I serviced most of my batch to another “major” outlet. I was truly excited about my experience and wanted to share in spite of a few “not so good” pics. So take a look at all the fun including the cutest little Captain America in the theatre 🙂
One last thing!! I’ve mentioned in previous posts the GOTG cast has been in town filming. They were escorted through the red carpet so fast… I had 2 minutes to get my questions in with Michael Rooker. He was super cool, short & funny… and you can even see that he kind of enjoyed me as well. I asked 2 quick questions and turned off the recording. It happened so fast he asked, “That’s it??” And I said with a smile… “Yes Sir, I only had 2 minutes”.
Check out my “everything done wrong” video. You’ll notice it’s sort of unfocused because I didn’t have time to adjust the lighting from my red carpet picture modes. Shout out to my photog buddy Paras Griffin for literally turning my lens in focus as I was talking and holding the camera. #teamwork
Be sure to hit the theaters May 6th for Captain America Civil War!
